We wrapped up about 6:30pm and Daniel, Jerry and I just sat and talked for about twenty minutes. We left a little before 7:00pm thanking God for the opportunity to be His faithful witnesses. June 23, 2006 - The weather forecast was not good! However, I have always been pretty stubborn about canceling street witnessing unless it is obviously a big storm and not just scattered showers. We have canceled a few times before only to realize that it never rained! Stacie, Emily, Sara and I hopped into the car and I prayed and told God that while we appreciated the rain, I would appreciate it more if He would stop the rain to give us an opportunity to do what He has called us to do...to seek and save the lost. We headed down to WaterFront Park...in the rain. It poured and I prayed all the way. As we got closer and the clouds began to break up and let the sun in, I saw the largest rainbow I think I have ever seen in my life! It was one of those rainbows that allowed you to see the beginning and the end! We arrived at the WaterFront and it was still drizzling. Jerry pulled in behind me and I jumped in his minivan and we talked for few minutes. The backup plan was to wait out the rain until around 7:00pm and then hope that it stopped. Well, it stopped raining around 6:40pm. I thought I saw Sylvester, so I jumped out and headed across the street. It wasn't him. Not long after that Danny, Mark and Sylvester showed up. Daniel was not going to be able to make it do to a "lock-in" youth event and his church. We were still waiting on Eric so we handed out a few tracts to passers-by. After Eric and his two sons showed up, we prayed and decided to split up into two teams. My team headed down the sidewalk towards Louisville Slugger field. We ran into three people and handed them Million Dollar Bills and asked them about the Million Dollar question on the back. They were all Christians. One of the men was with the Christian organization, the Cabbage Patch House (and had been for 22 years!) and was in charge of the 3-on-3 basketball showdown that they were setting up for on the following day and Sunday. As we moved along we noticed that there was NO ONE around! The rain scared everyone away. We decided to regroup and head to our faithful fishing hole...the Highlands. We caravanned down there (we took the long way thanks to me!) and split up into two teams again. Danny, Mark, Eric and his two children were on one team and I was with Sylvester, Jerry, Stacie, Emily and Sara on the other. The team I was with headed down the sidewalk and came across Meredith and her friend. I initially noticed that Meredith's friend was very androgynously dressed and Meredith was wearing an infamous "rainbow" choker necklace. We were able to use the I.Q. Test Survey Tract to stop them and begin the conversation. She considered herself to be a "good person" so I took her through the "Good Test". She admitted to lying, stealing, blasphemy and adultery. However, Meredith continuously mentioned that she did not believe in God's standard of being morally right and wrong by using the Ten Commandments although she said that she had went to Catholic school and had a Catholic background. I continued using the Law to bring the knowledge of sin and she did realize that if I was right and she was wrong, that she would face a Holy, Righteous and Just Judge on the Day of Judgment and be found guilty and would end up in Hell. However, she would not come to terms with the accuracy and legitimacy of the Bible. I made a few Apologetic points about the archeological, historical and prophetic evidence of the Bible along with the evidence of the Dead Sea Scrolls. One point that she kept coming back to over and over in our conversation was that there were so many hypocrites in the church. I made the point that there really were no hypocrites in the church. The word "hypocrite" means "to act" or "actor". The true body of Christ is not the building, but the people. Anyone who was acting the part of a Christian, but was not genuine or "false" was not truly in the "body" of Christ. I told Meredith that she would have to stand alone in front of God on the Day of Judgment and have to give an account of herself to God and the excuse of "there were too many hypocrites in the church" would not stand in the courts of Jehovah. Meredith's argument would be like saying, "I know I'm guilty of speeding, but everyone is speeding." What she doesn't realize is that the police officer won't care who else was speeding because you are the one who was pulled over for violating the Law. It won't matter who did what on the Day of Judgment because we will each have to give an account of ourselves to God and won't be able to point a finger or blame anyone else for not repenting and trusting in Christ. We thanked Meredith and her friend for their time, gave them both "Are You Good Enough To Go To Heaven" tracts and continued down the sidewalk. While Meredith did not repent and trust in Jesus, I could tell that some of the content of our conversation had possible broken up some of the fallow ground of her heart and seeds were planted. Also notice that the subject of homosexuality/lesbianism was never mentioned. We then stopped Cody, who had just gotten off work at Kroger and was riding his bike down Bardstown Road. I immediately flagged Cody down and gave him a Million Dollar Bill tract. Cody continued to slowly ride his bike down the sidewalk as I talked to him about the Million Dollar Question on the back of the tract. It was kind of weird! I was doing One-2-One while walking briskly beside Cody as he was riding. We crossed the street and he finally stopped on the street corner by a restaurant called "Ramsi's Cafe On The World". Along the way, I found out that Cody had a Christian background and even considered himself to be a Christian. Ironically enough, however, after going through the "Good Test", Cody admitted that he could be headed for Hell. It was a bit confusing! After probing a bit further, I found out that Cody had grown up in the "church", but was having second thoughts about his faith. I summarized what I said to Cody and gave him a "Are You Good Enough To Go To Heaven" tracts. During that One-2-One conversation with Cody, I noticed that a guy named John was drinking coffee and intently listening to our conversation. It's kind of funny because I noticed that he initially tried to cross the street, but got stopped by traffic, so he "had" to listen to the One-2-One I was doing with Cody. I told Cody that I appreciated him talking to me, but I wanted to see if "this guy over here" (John) would talk with me. I immediately engaged John with a Million Dollar bill and that is when the fun began! I don't recall all of the many ramblings that John went on about, but I do remember his cold stare as he was talking to me. His eyes seemed to be devoid of life. It was as if I was not talking to John, but someone/something else. I recall him saying over and over that there was no "J" in the Greek alphabet and that when I said "Jesus", I wasn't referring to Jesus respectfully. This didn't make much sense because he just said the name "Jesus"! He also said that when I said "God" that I was referring to some sun god. When I asked him how he thought I should refer to the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, he couldn't give me a straight answer. John was heavenly indoctrinated with multiple religions. In fact, he said that he studied multiple religions each day for hours. It really made me think, because most Christians can't spend fifteen minutes a day studying the Truth of the Bible. This guy was a mess and very confused. I could rarely get a word in. I was finally able to ask him if he considered himself to be a good person. Surprise! He did! After talking with John for about an hour, I decided to move on. Part of me thinks that I shouldn't have spent so much time talking with John because it didn't seem like I made any progress. However, I kept listening to John because I think he just needed to be heard. Sometimes if we take the time to let people be heard, they might listen to what we have to say. I can only hope and pray that some of what I conveyed to him got through (Isaiah 55:11). Looking back, I don't recall ever witnessing to someone so well versed in the mire and muck of world religions as John. It was almost spooky considering how much detail and trivial information he was coming up with. Some of the other Jude 23 members commented that they didn't think it was just John I was speaking with! During the One-2-One with John, I noticed that Danny's wife Robin and two children, Katie and Matt and Katie's friend Courtney showed up. Okay, let me pause The Report for a minute and recap the number of people out on the streets with The Jude 23 Network...this is awesome! Me, Stacie, Emily, Sara, Sylvester, Mark, Eric and his two sons, Jerry, Danny, Robin, Kate, Matt and Courtney. Did I leave anybody out? That's awesome! (Pressing the PLAY button...un-paused) After the One-2-One with John, a man approached us and handed us four $25 gift cards to a restaurant that he was frequenting on Bardstown Rd called "Ramsi's Cafe On The World" (how ironic is that name!?!). He said that he had overheard my One-2-One conversation with John and other One-2-One encounters on that very corner and was so encouraged and appreciative of what we were doing that he wanted to bless us with the gift cards. We were astonished, but we humbly accepted them! We decided to head back to our usual Open Air (O/A) spot by Ear X-Tacy and do some Open Air, handing out tracts along the way. I grabbed the O/A gear and got setup. Katie's friend Courtney held the P.A. system and I began to ask trivia questions to draw a crowd. I think it would be an understatement to say that the pedestrian traffic was rather thin when we started. I was initially able to just get one guy to stop. Then three more stepped in. Then four stopped to listen. There were a few more in the distance standing in the Ear X-Tacy "courtyard". Again, this is a very "thin" crowd for a typical O/A. I take "comfort" in once hearing from Daniel that Ray Comfort's first O/A was with two people! I asked who in the crowd would like to go for $20. Most everyone raised their hand. Although we had a "Heckler's Mic", I still made them yell to see who was the loudest. Chris "won" and came to the front and grabbed the microphone. He (like any of us who take the "Good Test") failed miserably. I asked him if it concerned him that he could die and possibly be going to hell. He said yes, it did. I then was able to give him the "Good News". He saw his need for a Savior so I asked him if he would like to pray right now, asking for forgiveness, repenting and forsaking his sins and putting his faith and trust in Jesus. He said that he already had done that!!! Needless to say, I was a bit confused! After going back and confirming everything with him, I told him that I appreciated his time and asked the crowd if he had proved to be a good person. Everyone concurred that he had not. I told the crowd that none of us deserved Heaven, but Hell...and it was only by the grace of God, do we get what we don't deserve, Heaven, when we repent of our sins and place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. I told the crowd that while Chris didn't deserve the $20, I was going to give it to him as a demonstration of the grace of God. Chris gladly took the money and slowly disappeared into the night. Meanwhile, Larry and his brother arrived on the scene and had been intently listening to the O/A. The crowd had dissipated and there were just a few stragglers left. I decided to present the Gospel one more into the streets of the Highlands. I just began preaching to anyone who was in earshot. After I was finished, I started talking with Larry and his brother. Larry was a fairly new Christian (October 2005) and seemed to be motivated to share his faith with others. I told him to drop us an EMail if he wanted to link up with us. (*The next day I recieved an EMail from Larry wanting to link up with us. He is currently studying some of the material to prepare himself to witness. He is planning on going out to the streets with us to witness!) We all left and decided to invade the Steak N' Shake on Bardstown Rd. We had a great time in the restaurant! We handed out tracts and even took the opportunity to witness to the waiter. We thank God for the opportunities he gave us to be faithful witnesses! June 17, 2006 - We met at Mark's house at 6:00pm for a time of training and hanging out. Everyone from The Jude 23 Network was able to make it except for Daniel (who was out of town for a new job opportunity). Danny, Robin, Katie, Matt, Eric (and his son Addison) Mark, Jill (and their daughter Lillian), me and my wife, Stacie, Emily and Sara. We also had a new member of The Jude 23 Network make it, Jerry Dorris! Mark's house was full with 14 people there! Jill decided to order pizza right away, which was a smart move! We ordered Bearno's pizza and it was great! After talking for a little bit, we started watching Lesson 6 from the Way of the Master Basic Training course "Answering The Top Ten Questions". The video was paused on multiple occasions to discuss different topics. After the video, we at pizza and then started watching "The Complete Christian", a great production from the GNN. Okay, the original intent was for everyone to leave at 8:00pm. However, that seemed to go out the window pretty quickly! Everyone stayed around and talked and took a tour of Mark's property. Mark sells honey and we were checking out all of his bee hives and the rope swings he has in his yard as well as the downed tree from a big storm that happened that evening. We didn't leave Mark's until after 10:00pm!!! We sincerely thank Mark and Jill for their hospitality and putting up with us for such a long time! We are hoping to get together at least once a month from now on at different houses. June 16, 2006 - Daniel showed up at my house at 5:30pm and we watched the WOTM episode, "When Things Go Wrong". We left the house at 6:05pm and headed down to Waterfront Park. We met Mark, Danny, Danny's wife Robin and Danny's two kids, Katie and Matthew at WaterFront park. We were excited because they were having the annual Latin Festival. We had no idea, but there were going to be perfect opportunities for us to do some One-2-Ones and possibly do some Open Air (OA). Danny and I went and grabbed some tracts and the OA gear from my car. After we got back we all got together and prayed, loaded up on tracts and headed out. We were excited that we had a number of Spanish tracts. We had about 100 Spanish One Million Dollar Bill tracts and about 50 "Visual Image" tracts. We started heading into the festival and I decided a good Ice Breaker would be to find someone who spoke Spanish and ask them to read it for me so I could understand it. (We didn't actually know what the tract said!) Well, I did come across someone, but they said that their "translation abilities" weren't so hot so they couldn't help me. They did take one of the tracts and I gave the rest of the group Millions. I then turned around to find Cory and his friend standing there. I immediately walked up to them and handed them a Million Dollar Bill and asked them about the Million Dollar question on the back, "Will you go to Heaven?" They both said that they weren't sure so I focused on Cory and went through the WOTM with him, while his friend was listening. Cory said that he realized he could be heading for Hell and it definitely concerned him. After finishing speaking with Cory, I asked him if there was anything keeping him from asking for forgiveness, repenting of his sins and putting his trust and faith in Jesus Christ before we departed company. He said that there wasn't, so I asked him if he would like to pray right now. He said, "Yes." I asked him if he was sure. He said, "Yes." We were standing in the "midway" of the Latin festival so I asked Cory to walk over to a more quiet area over on the side. Cory and his friend followed me as well as the rest of the "crew". I talked with Cory for a few more minutes and gave him one more opportunity to "back out" before we prayed. He said that he wanted to ask for forgiveness, repent of his sins and place his trust and faith in Jesus Christ. So Cory, his friend, Daniel and I held hands in a circle and Cory prayed silently and then I prayed with him. We gave Cory the "How To Live Forever...Without Being Religious" book and the "Are You Good Enough To Go To Heaven?" tract. Cory said that he was going to go to a church that he had once been familiar with (he gave me the name of the church and we are going to contact them). I wrote down Cory's contact information and gave him a number where we could be reached if needed. We hugged each other and went to catch up with Mark. We then decided to do some Open Air preaching. The people were a bit sparse, but we decided to try it anyways. As I was stepping onto the step-stool a crowd of people was passing by. I quickly got their attention by telling them we were giving away money for answers to some easy trivia questions. They quickly came over as well as a few other passers-by. There were probably around twenty people. After about five trivia questions, I asked anyone if they wanted to go for $10 dollars. Robert said he wanted to go for the $10. After going through the "Good Test" with Robert he understood his dilemma, but said that he did not want to change his life, deny himself and follow after Christ at the present time. I asked the crowd if Robert had proven himself to be a "good person" and they said that he hadn't. I told them that even though Robert didn't deserve the $10, we were giving it to him anyways in the same manner as God offers us salvation through Jesus Christ even though we don't deserve it. I thanked the crowd for listening and then stepped off the step-stool. We began to talk about the O/A with some of the people in the crowd. I ended up talking with Robert for about an hour. In that hour, we covered a lot of ground...we even laughed and cried together. Before Robert left, we all got together and prayed for Robert. I must admit that I was hoping that Robert would repent before he left, but he didn't. We gave him one of our cards and exchanged phone numbers. We are praying that God continues to cause the seed that was planted in Robert to grow to a harvest of salvation. It was getting late so we decided to stop for the evening and go grab a quick bite to eat. We all went to the Frisch's on Fern Valley Rd and had a great time of hanging out and eating some food. And, as I'm sure you can guess, almost everyone in the restaurant got a Million Dollar bill! June 9, 2006 - Danny, Katie, Matt, Eric and I meat at 6:30pm at WaterFront Park. Daniel was running a little late and Mark was unable to make it because he had family coming in town. We sat on a bench in front of the "Dancing Waters" in front of "Festival Plaza" talking and periodically watching some older teens run around in the water while waiting on Daniel to show up. As they were about to leave, Eric jumped up and hurried over to them to hand them some Million Dollar Bill tracts and try to strike up a conversation with them. From my perspective they gave him the cold shoulder and wouldn't even take a tract. It did strike me as important, though. Even if we are rejected (as Jesus was over and over), shouldn't we still be "running" to people to get the Gospel in their hands? Of course we should! I thank God for Eric's zeal. Daniel showed up and we all held hands and prayed. I immediately noticed four guys (17-21) sitting on the benches where we had just been sitting. I walked over to them and gave them all a Million Dollar Bill, introduced myself and asked them the Million Dollar question..."Would they go to Heaven?" A couple of them said that they weren't sure and a few said, "I hope so!" I went through the WOTM/"Good Test" with them. They ALL realized that they could be going to Hell when they died. They all said that it concerned them and they wanted to pray to be saved. If you know me, I am always looking for repentance from a sinner and not just a decision. I probed a bit further and gave them some of the same scenarios I gave Kendall on May 12, 2006 in The Report. After "counting the cost" these guys said that they were just "not ready" to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and follow after Him. One of the guys said that he wanted to pray anyways because football season was coming up and he could get hurt or even die. He said that he didn't want to die without Christ and go to Hell. He wanted what most people want...JCMI. Jesus Christ Mutual Insurance. They want Jesus to be their Savior when they die so they will go to Heaven, but they do not want Jesus to be the Lord of their lives. I told the guys that I would pray with them anyways, so we circled up and joined hands. I prayed that the Holy Spirit would continue to convict them and draw them and that their eyes would be opened and that they would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I prayed that they would constantly think about our conversation and would not wait too long to repent and come to Jesus. I also interceded for them by praying for their safety during football season. We talked a little bit longer and I even did some magic tricks for them, proving that "seeing is not always believing", that they will never forget! We handed out more tracts along the way and did multiple One-2-Ones. I even ran into a two Mormons and their girlfriends. It was kind of funny because I approached them with the Million Dollar bills and they refused. When one of them asked what it was I told them that it was a Gospel tract. He said, "No thanks." I probed a little further and went ahead and asked him if he had a Christian background. He said that he did...he was a Mormon. Of course, I didn't say, "Actually, you're not a Christian!" I just kind of let that slide. I told him that we were out witnessing and I was surprised, considering their background, that they gave us such a hard time knowing that we were witnessing. They became "a little bit nicer" when I said that. I made small talk with them by telling them that I had run into two female Mormons in the Highlands back in March (March 18, 2006) and that I didn't even know Mormons had female "Missionaries"! I also asked them if they still continued in their fervent witnessing even after they got off of their "mission". He kind of him-hawed around, but finally gave a half-hearted, "Yes". But then added, "not as much as I probably should." I offered the tracts to them again before I left and they took them. We handed out a few more tracts and I ran into another couple down by the river. They were probably in their late teens/early twenties and she was sitting on his lap. I walked over to them and gave them a Million Dollar Bill, introduced myself and asked them the Million Dollar question..."Would they go to Heaven?" She said that she thought she would because she went to church occasionally. He said that he wasn't sure. I told them both that there was a way to know if they were going to Heaven or Hell when they died. I went through the WOTM/"Good Test" with them. They both realized that they could be going to Hell when they died. Both of them said that it concerned them and they wanted to pray to be saved. I said, "Are you sure?" They both said yes. I said, okay, you are boyfriend and girlfriend, let me give you a scenario! (You probably know where I was going with this one!) After giving them the scenario, they both decided that "now just wasn't the right time" to become a Christian. I see this happening so many times. They are ready to be "saved" from Hell, but when they count the cost they reconsider. Yes, we could have decision after decision with these people, but would there be true repentance or just the saying of a sinner's prayer? Were their hearts really ready to receive Christ and follow Him? After hearing the WHOLE Gospel, the true condition of their heart was revealed and they would have been added to the mangled bodies of the millions of false converts if I would have prayed the sinner's prayer with them (which we never do!). I gave them both the "Are You Good Enough To Go To Heaven" tract and asked them to please consider their eternal salvation because there was nothing more important. We decided to pray and leave. We thank God that He gives us the strength and the opportunity to be faithful witnesses! June 3, 2006 - I showed up at the BerryTown YMCA outreach at 8:00am for an event that was called "Clothed With Love". There were some members from my church along with a couple of other churches that were participating in this outreach. The concept is to provide free clothing and other household goods, entertainment, prayer and food to the community. We sorted clothes and helped get everything ready for the people showing up. Ironically enough, Pastor Curtis and Charmaine Bridgeman from New Vision Ministry Center (Daniel's church) provided the praise and worship. "Illuminate", the drama ministry of Radiate Student Ministries at New Vision Ministry Center performed some awesome drama and dance. I left at 3:00pm to meet up with the rest of The Jude 23 Network at the Strike N' Spare bowling alley on Phillips Ln. We all, (yes all of us, including Will Jones!), met and headed down to the Portland area of Louisville for an event called the "Portland Family Reunion Festival" Daniel had been invited by a former friend and pastor from Eagle's Nest to rap and speak at the event. After we arrived, the pastor met with us and took us down to their booth. We went through the whole Festival and handed out Million Dollar bill tracts and did some One-2-Ones. We all met back at the Eagle's Nest booth at a certain time so Daniel and Will could rap. While Daniel and Will were rapping their "Cross Eyed Freaks" song, the rest of us formed a "Rent-A-Crowd" in the street. After the song, Daniel Open Aired. He did a GREAT job!!! Many stopped and listened. I stopped one guy that began to leave and asked him what he thought about what Daniel had been saying. He said that he didn't want to talk about and that he didn't like to talk about such things. That was rare! We have found that the majority of people are interested in talking about important things. We handed out more tracts after Daniel Open Aired and Mark got into an hour and a half One-2-One with an Atheist psychologist with her PhD. I think Mark was worn out after that!
